WAYFINDING SCHEME OF THE YEAR
Wayfinding remains one of the primary functions of signage. Its purpose is firstly to confirm that you’ve found your right destination and secondly help you to navigate your way round the area or building your are visiting.
Whether you’re visiting a city, town, university, school, hospital, airport, library, museum, industrial complex, or even a shopping centre (or a major store with the centre), you relay on wayfinding signage to help you find your way round.
Wayfinding signage can be very ‘municipal’ and dull. But it doesn’t have to be. It can also be creative and colourful whilst still performing it primary role of delivering clear, concise and informative information. The judges will be looking for the latter type rather than the former.
And they will also take into consideration how the signage scheme has been designed to help blind and visually impaired people.
