The category especially for the smaller signmaker – and this year the category is open only to sign business with a turnover of less than £1 million (previously the limit was £2 million).
The change in the category ruling is to encourage all those smaller – one, two, three and four man – businesses to enter the awards.
The fact is that the vast bulk of the signmakers operating in the UK are relatively small businesses turning over between £200,000 and £1 million pa. Many of these businesses have openly stated that would not take part in the awards because they had to compete against much bigger businesses.
Well, now we’ve levelled the playing field. If you’re s small signmaker and you’ve done work you’re proud of, get your entry form completed and sent off.
Previous winners of the award have included Graffiti Designs for the De La Warr Pavilion (above) and Bar 242 in London and Signs by Morrell for the Lumiere Building in Paris.
